The WTA is a program whose aim is to encourage world class competition, to stimulate innovation and creativity and to ensure travellers receive exceptional value. Every year the WTA holds an open vote on the best in the industry.
Also known as the 'Oscars of Travel' WTA has been honoring excellence in tourism since 1994 and is recognized as the hallmark of excellence with the winners setting a standard to which others aspire. It serves to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of global travel and tourism industry. WTA has announced it will host its Black Tie Grand Final Gala Ceremony 2012 at Oberoi Gurgaon, New Delhi Capital Region, India on the 12th December 2012.
In 2010 Phakalane Golf Estate Hotel won Botswana's leading resort award, in 2004 it won Botswana's leading golf resort, 2005 and 2004 it scoped Botswana's leading resort. For the 2012 awards, the resort received three nominations; Botswana's leading hotel, Africa's leading golf resort and Africa's leading sports resort. PGEHR has progressed over the years with the aim of establishing the best travel destination in Botswana.
